Note that in 1937 she refers to the flood on the Ohio river. Google the 1937 Ohio River flood. Very bad.
Also writes "butchered" and "wrapped meat" several times during cold of January. Just a common practice.
In 1936 a blizzard shut down the school. She had told us about getting stuck and having to stay in town with her grandparents.
